Pandemic EBT for Families
Due to coronavirus (COVID 19), children who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals at school will get extra benefits. These electronic food benefits are called Pandemic EBT or P-EBT benefits. P-EBT benefits help families in California access nutritious food when schools are closed. These benefits are in addition to, not in lieu of, free and reduced-price meal benefits.
- Students who are directly certified (i.e. CalFresh, CalWorks, Medi-Cal, Foster, Homeless) and appear in CALPADS should automatically get their P-EBT card in the mail starting next week.
- All other free/reduced eligible students will need to apply online from May 22- June 30 in order to receive the benefits.
- All children who receive P-EBT may still continue to receive meals at COVID-19 emergency meal pick-up sites.
No action is required now. In the coming weeks, the state will release additional resources and information about the online application.
We will update this post with the link to the online application when available.
