Drama

Drama serves to provide a creative outlet for students. This program allows all students a chance to participate through open auditions. Throughout the year, there are workshops offered to enable students to take part in an introduction to theatre. The students will partake in auditions, rehearsals, and meetings to learn the art of stagecraft, and they have the opportunity to put on performances throughout the year. The CTE Academy Drama class is open to all students in grades 7th-12th.

“To grasp the full significance of life is the actor’s duty, to interpret it is his problem, and to express it is his dedication.”-Marlon Brando

Yearbook

The Excelsior Charter School CTE Academy Yearbook is completely imagined and designed by our 7th-12th grade students. Yearbook Club members actively take pictures of all CTE Academy events, from ASB Events to class events, music concerts, field trips and other fun around campus. These captured memories are then used to design pages in the yearbook to showcase all the wonderful things happening at the CTE Academy!

Glee

Students in the Excelsior CTE Academy Glee class will learn to refine their vocal skills. They will learn to feel rhythm, and remember melody. Students will discover and develop their own musical skills, from beginner to intermediate and beyond. Students will practice these skills in a social learning environment and will learn to articulate the learning process; and transfer knowledge to tackle new challenges throughout the year.

Speech

Many students feel that they do not have a voice in what happens at their school or in their community. Through the New Podcasting class, the voice of the students can be heard through their own news program. Combining elements of journalism and public speaking, students are creating their own audio news podcast or program, informing the school and local community about the issues that they find important. Students who attend take charge of the content, research, recording and editing of the news program. The podcast is made available to all students and community members via the Excelsior web site and Facebook page and can be downloaded on to any MP3 player.
