About AVID
The AVID course is an elective class for students who are college-bound. The AVID curriculum focuses on writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading (WICOR) through the AVIDJunior High and High School curriculum in both teacher and tutor-led activities. In addition to their core classes, students learn strategies to enhance success. Cornell notes, binder checks, tutorials, keeping a planner, and speaking in front of the class are key components. In addition, the course includes college motivational activities and college field trips.
